University of Gävle wants to become a European university
Ylva Fältholm, Vice-Chancellor of University of Gävle, is one of seven leaders of higher education institutions in Europe who at a meeting in the French city of Angers strive to establish a common European university.
Higher education institutions from Sweden, France, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Spain and Germany are now together taking the first step towards establishing the European University “EU_GREEN”.
The main goal is to use each other’s experiences to raise the quality of European higher education while giving students, researchers, university teachers and staff new opportunities for exchanges.
“Creating a European consortium would give us great opportunities to develop. There is also a great focus on sustainability which is in our profile. Imagine, for our future students the entire European University would be their campus,” Ylva Fältholm says.
Students at University of Gävle will thus become students at the University of Europe. For example, joint study programmes, in which the students study at several of the different higher education institutions during their studies, could be created.
